We adopted Molly 4 days before our daughter came home from vacation.
She was very shy, but no growling or anything. Libby came home all was
fine for about 5 days. Then Libby dyed her hair and the same day in
fact as soon as she was done the growling started. This has been going

Its funny, perfume has *always* had that effect on me....but only the
chemical ones. Essential oils and naturally based scents are fine (I quite
like them, actually). I used to smoke like a chimney (I was actually
participating in the group during my quitting phase, I think). Could be
around it for a while, but since 9/11 can't be near it at all without
getting a nasty throat and sinus infection. Since its not just discomfort,
but actual illness that smoking causes (and it can take me up to 4 weeks to
recover from it), I get really reactive if someone is smoking around me as
well. But, since I also know what the perspective of the other side is, I
never assume I'll make any headway....so I usually just remove myself and
grumble a lot.

on 7 days.

Today it has stopped as quickly as it started.

Molly is laying under the coffe table and I was laying on the couch. I
got up and usually Molly would follow me down stairs. Well 10 minutes
later I go bck up to check on her and Libby is in my spot on the couch
and Molly is still under the table by her.

She has not growled at her at all today. Maybe it was the hair dye and
hopefully it is over.

Please don't get defensive here, but I have to say this. Even if it
was just the hair dye that threw her off, you need to have the dog
evaluated because the response to that was something that may be very
serious. The length of time it went on and the way the dog handled it
are of great concern no matter what set off that reaction. Please
contact bethgsd off list and get the name of the trainer she knows.
You don't need to invest in years of training, but you really do need
to get some in person help. If it is fear aggression, it will pop up
again either with your daughter or someone else and different things
can set it off. It may not work out so well the next time. I've had
a fear aggressive dog and I also have kids. Handled well (and I did
get professional help even though I do a lot of my own training of
dogs in general because it was something that takes special
expertise), everything can be great, but if not, it is a disaster
waiting to happen.

I would still take it very slow, and not pressure Molly. But maybe she has
decided that Libby belongs to the pack.

I don't think it would have anything to do with the hair dye.

diddy...
I think it could be both, but especially the hair dresser scents.
