help. i just bought two new 4 mos old pugs. i had mackenzie (female)
first for about 6 weeks and she is potty trained for the most part. now
ihave this new one named violet (female) to be her companion.
any tips for caring for the two?

Treat them as individuals as much as possible.
|
do i buy two crates? do i keep them in a larger crate together while I
am away at work?
Janet B...
|
I would probably crate them together in a large crate during the day,
and separately overnight. Of course, I would never get 2 puppies at
the same time/age because I really value the learning and bonding time
with one.
|
when they play... mackenzie chases violet and bites her ankles. this is
not normal puppy play is it? (i have never owned a dog before)
Janet B...
|
Perfectly normal. how much do they interact with YOU rather than just
each other?
|
do i feed them at the same time? (and just make sure they do not steal
each other's foods)
Janet B...
|
Yes. Stand guard, but feed them with the same procedure for both -
sit - wait - ok to eat - and watch that they eat from their own bowl
only.
|
do i take them outside together? do i walk them together (answer
probably yes)
Janet B...
|
As long as they focus on the task at hand (elimination) first.
|
mackenzie gets jealous of the other one, but she seems pleased that she
has a playmate.
Janet B...
|
Normal. They all want the attention - which is a good thing as well.
Playmates are great, but same age puppies can be difficult to treat
individually and have them bond with you more than each other.

So what possessed you to get a 2nd?
