Goodness. Maybe they should teach English instead of dog bed
inventions.

with a group of students and we are gathering information from dog
owners, in an effort to create a product that would help dog owners
deal with the problem of dogs chewing on their beds. Please take a

Nothing. They've never chewed inappropriately.

Supervision and training.


She never has chewed on any furniture, so never had to train her not to.

Do you use chew toys? How many do you have?

Mary Healey...
Yes. A dozen or so.

No. I've been given lots, I should get around to giving them
to someone who'll use them.

Yes, she has around 10, but only plays with one.

What's your dog's favorite toy? Why?

Mary Healey...
Me. I am the Provider of All Things Good.


Rocky...
Tug toys and retrieve toys. They like tug and retrieve.

Where do you store your chew toys?

Store? You mean when they aren't underfoot? When aren't they

In the back of my pantry's top shelf.

Not as such.

What kind of material is your current dog bed made out of?

Mary Healey...
It's a nice if elderly full-size Sealy mattress.

Cloth.


It is insulated with a zip off sherpa cover

What color is your dog bed?

Mary Healey...
Depends on which sheets I've got on the bed.

I don't know. I could go look, but that might screw up your

What are positive and negative features of your current dog bed?

Mary Healey...
Positive: comfortable. Negative: Duke hogs the center.


The cover can be removed and washed. It is strong. I can vac it to remove
dog hair. I can take take it with me when I travel. It is not huge and
bulky. There are no negative features.

How often do you buy a new bed?

Rocky...
The lab likes it. The others don't care.


Hardly ever; this is the second dog to use this bed.

He has chewed on part of the steps, and has chewed/eaten several computer

I told him not to do that anymore. He said he wanted a rawhide chew. I give
them to him when he politely asks, and he has stopped chewing on other
stuff.

Training, supervision and lots of exercise and mental stimulation

they've been taught not to chew the furniture and the shoes are kept in the

I got him a Nylon bone. Everything else is/was edible.

Yes. I give them rawhides or cow ears once or twice a week, which are

balls. they're retrievers

He really likes to lick and chew mostly empty cat food cans. I think he
likes the taste, and they are as close to the cat/chew toy (Photon) as he
can get :)

Tennis ball, tennis ball, little tennis ball. They're flyball dogs -
ball-obsessed by definition.

His nylon bone is on his downstairs dog bed. I keep the bag of rawhide
chews on a table or pantry shelf. He does not get them on his own, although
he could if he wanted to.

to switch off and on with to change it up!) and in a rubbermaid container
(again, extras to rotate in and out for varied play)

The one downstairs is foam rubber covered with cloth. The one upstairs is a
foam rubber pad covered with nylon cloth.

Fleece-covered pillowy stuff with cedar chips mixed in.

2 fleece, 1 soft terry and 1 orthopedic squishy one BUT they sleep in my bed
every night (they use the others in the crate or to rest throughout the
house)

Downstairs: mostly brown. Upstairs: blue.

Two of them are natural fleece-colored with brocade on the bottom and
sides, one is leopard print.

The one upstairs is easy to clean but is noisy if he scratches on it. The
one downstairs gets full of fur but is more comfy and quieter.

Cheap, cushy for the dogs to lay on, covers are easily removable for washing

store bought beds- cheap, small, machine washable
and when they sleep in my bed - awesome, great to have them near me to
cuddle

We got the dog beds when we got rid of the carpeting. They are in the
living room and the dogs use them when the couch is already occupied.
At night they sleep in bed with me.
