atomic prune...
this happened a while back.. but may happen again (i hope not) i moved
to a new apartment. walls were thin but... well there was this dog.
he was orange with a curled tail, medium build. (i can't figure the
breed mix he was for the life of me.)

a rather active but pent up dog.

ok here's the deal, he BARKED for 10 hours a day when everyone was
gone. BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK!

even with a doggy shock collar.. and all these um "so called" other
suppressions this female claimed she put him through to CALM HIM DOWN!

he'd whine like mad too.

ok now this went on for a solid year drove all us into insanity and
investing heavily in earplugs, it didn't kill the barking but it
smoothed it down.

well they moved.. finally! yay!

(don't worry still we have a noisey neighbor but no dog)

Davina Stuart...
we have a dog that did that when we got her (rescued) she suffered from
severe seperation anxiety. the longest she was ever left alone was 4 hours
and we taped her once and she did indead bark the whole time we were gone..
took us 6 months of carefully training and showing her thatnwe would indeed
come back before she was "totally over it" it's possible that this is
what's going on.

see now the deal is... now the dog is.. QUIET! no one hears a peep
out of him. nothing, no barking, whimpering zip zing ding dong
nothing.

what happened? was he hearing something in our building? i smelled
bad? ???

this happen alot?

and this woman had birds too chirping whistling all painful like...
and a cat.. but now they're all happily ever after now.

all quiet on the western front.

there's no difference, they have noise in this other building... and
the dog is on the ground floor now.

and yes in both places the windows were blocked so he couldn't see the
action.

?

Davina Stuart...
well, if they've had a change in schedule or actually worked with the dog to
get it over this anxiety, that could change the dogs barking patterns

i know this is about as helpful as........

but i'm just wondering if someone has any input and if this happens
again what i can do to calm the tides of... BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK!

Davina Stuart...
uhm.. other then volunteering to help socialize the dog, maybe offer to take
it out for walks while they're gone for long periods if you're home.
