Questions

A few months ago I adopted a female sheppard mix from the animal
shelter. She was a stray and I have a few questions.

1. I am trying to walk her off the leash. But she will stray away...

Here's a hint - she was a STRAY. Which means she probably STRAYED
from her previous owner.

Lately I put her in sit stays walk about 10 feet away and call her.
She comes and is quite good at this. I feel like when she accept the
sit stay a kind of agreement is made that she will not run away. But I
am just guessing. I would like help from the group in understanding
this better and how to strretch this out so I could walk with her off
leash.

Training. Since you don't know how, a class would be a good idea.

2. She comes up to me and butts her nose hard up into my hands. I
think she is trying to play but it is a little too agressive. What is
the best way to curb this behavor.
