I was just reading on the web that dogs don't really require
vacinations every year only the first vacinations at eight weeks. It

But humans don't go for a tetanus daily, we go every 10 years or so (or at
least that is what my Dr. recommends). We also (if you are in an at-risk
situation, get the flu shot every year.

Don't forget that there are a lot of jurisdictions that require
vaccinations for your dog to be licenced. Vaccinations aren't only to
protexct your dog, they are also to protect the dogs that yours comes into
contact with.

I have read the articles saying that after the 2nd year some vets are
not doing distemper/parvo but every 3 years. Research was done saying
that the vaccines would last for 3 years if not longer. They still
recommend rabies every year and plus its required by law. My vet still

Maybe there are jurisdictions that require it, but what I've
encountered around this state and in dealing with dogs from
other states and provinces is that to register your dog you
need a current rabies vaccine. If it's a three-year vaccine
it's good for three years.

My vets follow the Cornell vaccination protocol, which is
bordetella and lepto every year, everything else (including
rabies) every three years.
