On the unassisted immigration to Victoria online database I have found Mr Arthur & Reginald Hermon (sometimes HERMAN) listed as arriving in Melbourne on the ship Garonne from England around July 1880. I gather further information on this is on British Fiche 382 Page 010 possibly at the Victoria Archives.
For me this is an exciting discovery as I thought that there would be no way of finding how my fare paying ancestors came to Nelson, NZ
Is there someone who has spare moment would you be willing to search these fiche in Melbourne and provide whatever information you can about the particular journey of the Garonne to Melbourne. I am hoping that we can identify when and where it departed from in England and when it arrived in Melbourne. If there is newspaper report of its journey out that would be a bonus.
I also understand that A & R Herman left Melbourne around 21 July 1880 on the ship Rotomahana which headed around the bottom of the South Island, NZ. If you can find any details confirming this I would be grateful.
Look forward to hearing from you
Many thanks for your help
