Bahaichap...
Having seen the way this site is laid out and the way postings are
presented, I shall offer the following item, my 2nd posting, at this
site. My autobiography, some 1500 pages, some 1 million words in 3
volumes is located at the lulu.com self-publishing site. My

Kerry Raymond...
I am sure people might be interested in your experiences using lulu.com for
self-publishing.

Currently people who make the effort to write up their family history as a
book have at least 3 problems:

* never sure of when they have "enough" information to make it appropriate
to write a book
* need to do a large print run and hope to sell the books
* no easy way to put out updated versions apart from another large print run

Given that lulu is print-on-demand, it might be a better solution for family
historians as the book can start small and grow over time, with each copy
sold representing the latest version of the book.

However, while I have looked at the lulu site, I have never actually used
it. What was your experience like at preparing material for it?

Thanks Kerry for your note. Let me say, in response to your comment
about lulu.com, that:

1. I have just self-published a 3 volume 1500 page work at Lulu.
2. It takes some time to work your way around all the different boxes
in the process of self-publishing.
3. I now have 1 copy of each of the books in my study.
4. I am reading the books, making corrections and will, in time, make
another edition at Lulu, an edition with deletions, additions,
alterations, etc.and
5. I'd recommend the process. The cost is free except: (a) you pay for
the copy of the book and (b) mailing costs.--Ron Price, Tasmania.

autobiography is entitled: Pioneering Over Four Epochs. Anyone
aspiring geneologist who wants to put their story, their family's
story, in some narrative framework, might try looking at my prose
account. I may post some of it here at a future time after I am a
little more familiar with the way this site operates.-Ron Price,
