FTM counting descendants

Hello Listers,

Can anyone tell me if FTM 2005 will count descendants for me please? If not,
which family history programmes do count descendants?

With FTM 2006, you can select Export File > Selected Individuals, then
select someone and click the Descendants button (or Ancestors for that
matter). This lists and displays a count of the descendants of the
person selected. You can then just cancel the export. I've only had
this new version for a few weeks, so there may be other ways of doing
this. Not sure if 2005 has the same feature but I would expect so.

Would I be correct in guessing that the number given by this method in
FTM would include spouses of descendents and therefore would give an
inflated result for the question asked?
