I am looking for a John Marsland who was transported for life aboard
the Minerva in 1824 for stealing. He was a caster by trade. Tried at
Lancaster Quarter Sessions. John was born between 1799 - 1807 and his

parents are believed to be John Marsland and Isabella Shuttleworth. I
have looked at st cats for a birth for John or a marriage for the
parents with no luck. I have his court transcripts which shed no light

St Cats ??? Do you mean St Caths ?? This was the name
given to the civil registration BDM indexes of England &
Wales that date from 1 Jul 1837
No one has claimed him on

Civil Reg ( i.e St Cath's or G.R.O.) did not commence till 1837,
so that is why you cannot find it.
