Old Telephone Books - 1986

Can anyone tell me where I could access old telephone books for the above
years.

I know that I can access the electoral rolls at the State Library Vic, but I
am unsure if they have telephone books too.

Hello Di,

The State Library of Victoria does have telephone books. I remember the
days when they had multiple volumes of current phone books on the shelf
in the Reference Room from all over Australia and overseas.

The catalogue can be tricky to use for this, but I found that using
"keywords" search and putting a place (say a state or a large town)
followed by "telephone" I could pull up directories. I see they now
have lots of sets of microfiche of early telephone directories in the
Genealogy section as well.
