katy...
Sure hope someone speaks English here. My ancestors emigrated from
Untereisenbach, Clerff Parish in 1966 to avoid draft of their sons into
the German Army (so says family legend). There names were Nicholas
Pott, married to Elizabeth Mayer. They moved to Iowa, USA with 6 of
their children. It is believed that some children who were already
married stayed in Luxembourg. The family rumor is also that the spelling
may be something different and that an immigration official may have
done a phonetic translation of what he heard (19th century version of
Soundex). If anyone has any ideas on how to proceed with a search in
Luxembourg, I would be appreciative.

English is not the problem, but maybe the year mentioned in your post
is. 1966 and the 19th century won't mix. If 1966 research will be next
to impossible, if 19th century ... answers better than mine might appear.

Sotty...dyslexic fingers...it should be 1966...the letters on my
keyboard are all worn off...name should also be Pott not Ditt....

Richard Keijzer...
Hi Katy,

Could you do us a favor, please rephrase the question with a thorough
check of names and dates? This way you won't get any serious answers at
all, I'm afraid.

Cheers

Richard (the other one bearing that name in this NG)
