Vraagje

I am looking for any link to my ancestor JOHANNA HERMINA KOSTER who married
a gentleman by the family name of DE LA MOTTE in Ceylon. Johanna claimed
descent from KLAAS KOSTER of Amsterdam, who arrived at Galle (Ceylon) in the
year 1790. Johanna was born January 22 1829. They were Dutch Burghers.

If you could help me to locate some information, I would be very grateful.

With kind regards

Susan de la Mote

Hello Susan,

the following web-site you can find information about a large part of
the people that sailed to foreign destinations for the VOC:

I found the following Claas Koster who sailed for Ceylon in 1790:

Personal data of Claas Koster
Origin Amsterdam
Rank Sailor
End of contract 00/00/1791
Repatriated on ship Berkhout
with DAS-number 8308

Data of the voyage
Ship Unie

I don't know if this is the Klaas Koster you are looking for, but it
seems a good fit, although this data does seem to suggest that this
Claas Koster returned to Holland on the ship Berkhout in 1791. I suggest
you use the contact page of the website in order to get more
information.

If this Claas Koster was baptised in Amsterdam, then it could be one of
