mpreiss...
I am searching for *any* information about a family CLEBOT.

All I know is that circa 1630-1660 Catharina de CLEBOT married Sir Godfrey
Lloyd (= Geoffrey de Loydt), an English officer. Godfrey was probably in
Belgium/Holland in 1654 serving as an officer, and he was certainly in
Brussels in 1657 when he was knighted by the exiled King Charles II of
England. He may have been in Holland again in 1667, although it is also
possible that this was his son or another person with the same name. At
there is a map drawn by Sir Godfrey as follows: No 72 Titre [Bouchain]

It seems plausible that he met Catharina de CLEBOT while in Belgium or
Holland. I have not been able to find any information about this family or
any sources of information. All help in any language is appreciated.

I don't think, Michael, differentiating between
Belgium and The Netherlands ["Holland"],
before the two separated in 1830, is usefull.

However, perhaps this will interest you:

"By and by to the Duke of York, where we all met, and there was the King
also; and all our discourse was about fortifying of the Medway
and Harwich, which is to be entrenched quite round, and
Portsmouth: and here they advised with __Sir Godfrey Lloyd__ and Sir
Bernard de Gunn, [Engineer-general, who had been employed in 1661
to construct the works at Dunkirk.] the two great engineers, and
had the plates drawn before them; and indeed all their care they
now take is to fortify themselves, and are not ashamed of it; for
when by and by my Lord Arlington come in with letters, and seeing
the King and Duke of York give us and the officers of the
Ordnance directions in this matter, he did move that we might do
it as privately as we could, that it might not come into the
__Dutch Gazette__ presently, as the King's and Duke of York's going
down the other day to Sheerenesse was the week after in the
Harlem Gazette."
