Michael R Tyler...
I have done a lot of research at the LDS FHC where the help & enthusiasm for
the subject has been terrific. I also use the Legacy software for keeping my
tree in order.
Recently I stumbled across "Gencircles" & looked up my names & found most of
them. One disturbing feature was that all of them had been baptised
retrospectively into the Mormon Church. The information must have come from
my files as it included family members from both sides of the family. As I
have few expectations of a life hereafter I am not unduly concerned but if I
am wrong there may an ancestor swanning around on a cloud who finds himself
to be a member of the Mormon Church & that could be difficult for them.
Does this happen regularly ? & do LDS church members try to get their
recruitment numbers up ??

Lesley Robertson...
If I understand it correctly, the LDS believe that putting ancestors through
the ceremony only means that wherever they are in the Hereafter, they can be
offered the option to join or say no. Joining's not compulsory.
I can't seen that there's any reason to worry - if they're right, my
ancestors will get an offer which they can decide for themselves about. If
I'm right, it won't matter at all.

Kay Archer...
Your relatives still have the option ("free will") to decline.

Vivien Rice...
It's the entire raison d'etre for the genealogical records supplied by
the LDS Church.
They don't do it as a warm and fuzzy service for us non-LDS family
research addicts.
