If so, if it was from 1837 onwards get the marriage cert which will give
the fathers' names which will help you narrow you search.

If before 1837 get the Parish Register entry. There will be two
witnesses - often parents or siblings.

As others have said (or implied) the Stoke Demerel record is almost
certainly NOT your man.
