Who Do You Think You Are?

Well contrary to what everyone else seems to think, I enjoyed this
programme. It might not have show "how to" research your own tree, but
certainly illustrated what you might find. It gave some insight into how
things worked for the very poor in the cities in those days which is very
different from how we live today.
Maybe it wouldn't be as interesting for long time researchers who already
know all this stuff, but I didn't and it helped fill in some background.

I've just been wallowing in it. I knew the only man my 3xg auntie ever
loved and considered marrying was the artist Gustave Doré but I didn't
realise how celebrated his illustrations of the seamy side of life in
Victorian London were (1872). I'd never really looked at them till
yesterday. The were apparently recently used as inspiration for
settings of the latest Oliver Twist film. There are some at
I have to admit I found them a lot more interesting than TV. If they
had got married he'd be my 3xg half-uncle by marriage but they didn't
so he ain't .
