You appear to have missed the point entirely.
The complaint is about automatic renewals that clients have agreed to. Fine
that they send a reminder, but how hard is it for them to say that your
credit card will not be valid on the renewal date ?
But my card is never good for a renewal. I use a special account for all
internet purchases and then get a new card, so the old one can not be accessed
when I do not want it to be. I also use a special account for utilities only.
It is called once bitten, twice shy. My car insurance was deducted this way
and they all of a sudden started taking out $1,000 per month, took me 3
months to get it stopped and over a year to get it back. I will never let
anybody take anything put a set amount from an account and all my utilities are set
at a budget amount, no more can be taken out than that amount. I cannot
afford to have something like that happen again!!
So no, I have not missed the point. Even though I have agreed to keep my
subscription up, they cannot get the money till I update the account info,
which I do when the money is due and not until then, and then I call them, tell
them to take the money and when it is gone get another new card. Saw too many
complaints from different people about money being taken when they were not

AOL being one the biggest culprits.
I cancelled them as my ISP and three months later was still
trying to get them to stop billing me. Eventually they did......then
subsequently they started billing me again 4 months after that.
Took another few months to get them to stop billing me. Eventually
I cancelled my card.
