Any ideas how I can trace the marriage of a Captain Hudson and a Miss Spink?
Captain(?) Hudson alledgedly served on HMS Bellerophon at the battle of the
Glorious First of June in 1794. His blushing bride is thought to have been a
lady in waiting to the Duchess of Kent. They had a daughter, Elizabeth
Hudson, who married Peter Mungo Knight at St Saviour's, Southwark in 1825.
That's the sum total of my knowledge of the Hudsons.

You may be interested to read David Cordingly 'Billy Ruffian' [ISBN 0 7475
6544 9]. That has, as you would expect, quite a number of pages devoted to
the Bellerophon on the Glorious First of June.
Admiral Pasley was the senior officer on board. Captain Hope was next in
charge. There is no Hudson in the index. Could he have been on another ship
(Russell, Thunderer, Marlborough, etc.)?
The author quotes letters written home by sailors describing the events, so
they may turn up some unexpected nugget for you.

Thanks, I'll have to acquire a copy of the book.

Searching the IGI doesn't work as I don't have a first name for either of
them.

Hi Graeme
I know this wont help, but Captain William Hope served on the
Bellerophon at the battle of the Glorious First of June in 1794. So
your Huson, might have been just a humble sailor at that time.

Npw pretty certain he was a sailor, he later became a Master Mariner in the
Baltic Trade (all discovered in the last two days)
I'd forgotten that Bellerophin was the ship that transported Napoleon.

There was a Midshipman Huson on the Eagle
There was a Captain Charles Hudson on the Iris, but she saw service in
the Americas (She was destroyed in 1793)
Hope this is of some help though
