A new feature has been added to the UKBMD web site at
Go to the UKBMD web site and click on the 'Local BMD' button
and you'll see the new item at the top of the list. A multi-region
search page is now available for you to try.
The new search page is not intended to replace the existing search pages,
that many of you will be familiar with on the existing BMD sites -- it
is designed to complement them. So, if you know where an event took place,
you are recommended to go to the main BMD web pages for that county or region.
This new feature can only search the 8 regions that use the Cheshire BMD
software. It would be wonderful to think that one day the other Local BMD
sites could be persuaded to change to use the Cheshire software -- perhaps
this feature may do this ?
The output style is new. If it proves popular I may update the main sites
to match. Please let me know what you think about this and any other
comments that you may have.
Perhaps UKBMD is new to you ? UKBMD started as a web site to link to
all the BMD sites which are putting original Register Office indexes
on-line, as opposed to the GRO's secondary indexes. Over the years
it's grown so that now it can be thought of a the main starting
point for accessing all on-line sites for BMDs and censuses.
The description on the site's home page tells you which menu button
you need to click on , e.g. the 'National' button will give you access
to all sites with GRO indexes, such as FreeBMD or 1837online.
Have fun !

Wow - excellent! But could the 10 year span limit be increased?
Hope the other sites follow the same format though!
Keep up the good work.
