Fenny...
I seem to have interpreted Charani's post as saying she couldn't find
anyone on your site who was researching the same areas she was, probably
people with commom ancestors. Therefore, she could not be of help to
anyone already there.

Charani...
And you interpreted it right :))

I can guarantee that there will be nobody there researching my family
name, as all the people who share common ancestors with that name are
already in touch with me and we pool our information over the dining room
table.

Fenny...
There are 14 people in the UK with my surname who were born here (of which
4 married in). Anyone else is an offcomeden and not related to us within
the last 7 generations. We don't actually see that much of my uncle's
family, but when we do, we swap any info we have.

Fenny...
It took me a while to web-search for it, but no. My ancestry is probably
Italian, via the Channel Islands.

Fenny...
I haven't yet worked out whether Granny's stories about our family being
descended from Italian boat builders is true, but it is an Italian name.
THere are also a lot in France and various other parts of central Europe.
But as my g-g-gfather was born in Jersey in 1822, I have to go a long way
back to find anyone in Yoorp.
I run a FHS and one of my members told me about a new site on the net.
I tried the site and now use it myself (see below). It has terrific
potential and it is totally FREE to use!!!

John Firth...
Seems very useful will look into it

Hugh Watkins...
I look at the source of the data
