Did you ever look at an indoor photo taken of say your great-grandfather in
his house and note that in the background of the picture, there are other
pictures hanging on the wall or on the mantle over a fireplace? Your

I'm not familiar with this story but ... In the Times today there is a short
item on a photo of Sir Menzies Campbell finishing a race in 1964 with a
pained expression on his face. An enlargement implies the reason for the
pained expression was recently discovered to be a man holding a gun in the

Just a starter pistol, surely. Presumably this was a little joke on
the part of The Times?

If it's a joke I don't get it. It's clearly a long barrel gun like a rifle
or shotgun. Perhaps I've missed a news story? Possibly something to do with
the recent campaign to relax the gun laws to help our olympic shooters? I
tried to web-search the story but found nothing. Anyone?
