Alan...
I have a photo graph of one of my realtives in a naval uniform, black cap
with Union Castle Line cap tally. I have visited their site (Union Castle)
but no records.

Forrest Anderson...
The National Register of Archives database at
relating to the Union Castle Line - see

He was born about 1925 so I assume he was in the merchant navy during the
war years or just after as he is young looking in the photograph.
How can I find more about him via naval records or any other sources.
Any help would be much appreciated as he is the only one of this side of my
family I know little about.
His name is Edward (Eddie) Clark.

Forrest Anderson...
You might want to have a look at the various leaflets produced by the
National Archives at
- look under "Merchant".

Medal Records for merchant seamen in WW2 are downloadable from the
National Archives' Documents Online website at
with the following explanation:

Chris Watts...
You should find his records of service at The National Archives in series BT
382, BT 372 and possibly BT 364.
BT 372 does not cover all seamen at the time - it is indexed in TNA's
Catalogue and the entry includes date and place of birth and Dis.A No which
you may find from BT 395 . The other series require a visit to TNA.

Chris Watts

I thank anyone in advance for any assistance in tracing him.
