DickBS32Knowles...
I have some ancestors who lived at 71 and 106 Castle Street in 1871
through 1901. Can anyone tell me if these addresses are still the
original buildings, or have they been rebuilt?

Peter Goodey...
If you're asking whether it's been renumbered, I haven't a clue. I usually
work it out from census returns ie assess where the dwelling was in
relation to other landmarks which might still be standing - pubs are
particularly useful. Berkshire Records Office is only up the road from
Castle Street - why not ask them?

Thanks, Dick

Chad Hanna...
Can't really help as I came to Reading in 1980, but I believe Castle
Street goes into Castle Hill. 120 Castle Street is a pub on 'Hill' side

Jeff...
If you search Images at web-search you will find some old and
some new photos.

I realise his doesn't help specifically with 71 and 106

You might want to post a query at:

This site also has some photos of Castle Street.

Hugh Watkins...
or the street renumbered too?

of the Inner Distribution Road, while 67 would appear to be on the other
side. I surmise that both buildings have been demolished to make way for
the Inner Distribution Road.

I tried to find a photo on the web, but the nearest I could find easily
picture labelled 02 Castle Hill Roundabout is not far from (=may be on)
the location.
