A lot of the mistakes are quite 'logical', just a letter or three
misread, but the really gross errors are admirable in their way. Today

Correct! :-)

An entry which has (I think you'll agree) been accurately transcribed from a
clear original, yet is rather difficult to find.


The challenge is to find this family in 1861 (and yes I have done so, and
will post the details on Monday if nobody else finds them)

I came across the surname 'Whitehorn' transcribed as 'Jaquest'! That
takes style. Plus, it makes one all the more pleased to track it down.
