New Zealand Resources?

Does anyone have any pointers as to New Zealand's genealogical
resources? I am trying to track down the family of John Mor(r)ison

Pottinger. In the 1881 Census, he and his family were living in

Pottinger. In the 1881 Census, he and his family were living in
Lewisham. However, they seem to have disappeared from England &
Scotland by the 1891 Census. The only clue is in the 1901 Census is
where one of the sons turns up with a wife and daughter both listed as
having been born in New Zealand.
