The 1851 Census details for Caroline Young, born about 1802 in Falmouth,
Cornwall are referenced as Kingston sub district of Portsea Island
HO107/1657 folio 457 page 11.
The family includes 2 children with a different surname which the
Ancestry transcript identify as Granese. I think it looks more like
Groves but could someone better acquainted with the style of writing
tell me the name please.

Well using a different pair of eyes my suggestions are - Grancers, Grunsel,
Gruncel, Grunsell...?
There is a William Gruncel on this page 1881 rg12/1166/9/15

Looking at the ages of the children, I would guess that Caroline
remarried 1845 or earlier.
Portsea Island baptisms are on the IGI, so I looked for a baptism for
the son George. There are four George Youngs shown as baptised in the
right year and two, unfortunately, have mother Caroline.
There is a George to George and Caroline Young, and also a George to
Peter and Caroline Young.
Checking marriages, there are marriages at Alverstoke for George Young
to Caroline Hobbins, and Peter Young to Caroline Graves.
Back to the 1851 census, and there is a Peter Young, married, right sort
of age, in Portsea Workhouse.
I'm going for the name of the children to be GRAVES.
