What I would love to know is any of the above on any passenger
lists,I`ve looked but havent found them but this is not my field and
any pointers galdly taken I do believe these dates preceed Ellis Island
records?
If anyone can find any of them on American census I would be much
obliged. Knowing somebody lived in California dosn`t help much as its
looking for a needle in a haystack if I can pin them down more clearly
it would be great
Thanks Thanks Thanks

Caren,
The standard advice for American questions is to try posting
in alt.genealogy, which has a large, skilled American
presence.
Also, you might want to try Ancestry.com's
free-during-November trial of their new improved immigration
collection. See

Hi Caren,
I have a subscription to Ancestry, and I've been looking for
John. I think I've found him in 1850, 1860, and 1870
(haven't gone any further yet). If you'd like I'll email the
images.

Ray
That would be fantastic
As a matter of interest as a "relative" newcomer to this posting
buisness can you post to another group without re typing everything not
that I mind but as I have just got through typing half of it and then
pressing the wrong button and wiping it all you hoer there is an easier
alternative
many thanks caren

Look in your sent-mail folder, and copy'n'paste into a new
message.
immigration. HOWEVER!! there were numerous other ports and
most of them do not have passenger data on-line. There is
also the possibility that one or more of them went from
England to Canada and then into the US at one of the
border-crossings.
