My Great Grandparents were married in Manchester Cathedral. The address
on their certificate of 1871 is...
206. Chester Road,
Hulme,
Manchester.
Today I had an e-mail from another person whose grandparents are listed
at the same address but in 1909. The person's trade being listed as
Beer Retailer. Does this mean it was/is a Pub at that time?

a beershop is often rather less than a pub - just a front room with a
barrel on the table, or even a hatch in the front door through which
jugs of beer were sold. Some had sit down facilities, but not very
sophisticated ones.
The beershop licence cost 2 pounds, so a lot of peopem - the man
pursued his own job, the wife sold the beer, then he came home and drank
the profits.

Is anyone able to tell me if the buildings still exist today. web-search

Chester road is widened and nothing much old remains - tiny pockets
here and there.
