I hope you mean my comments - rather than me - thank you very much. I hope
that we trying to achieve some light in our discussions without point
scoring and deliberately misunderstanding people - but then I imagine that
is a bit much to ask.

7 pounds is the cost with reference and 11 pounds 50 without
reference. Are you sure you have ticked all the right boxes, and
entered the information required?

The OP has obviously not entered the correct info. All certs ordered
correctly are £7.00, I've just tried it. £11.50 fee, is, (as others
have said), is for certs with no ref.

Are you saying that there is no reason for applying for the certificate
without reference. In that case, the website should indicate more clearly
how to obtain the reference - rather than charging for people's ignorance of
how to go about that.

and 1837online

Yes. For one, you must have supplied the full reference data
(registration district, alphanumeric group, year and quater.
For the other you must just have said 'in 1928' or even given the birth
date and place, but, without supplying the reference numbers,
