Peter Norman...
What is the genral quality of articles in this publication?

A. Jones...
Nothing is ever perfect - one might ask "what is the general quality of
answers in soc.genealogy.britain"?

However, it's a long-established academic journal, now appearing under the
used to be able to browse at some of the early years via
decide, but the relevant pages currently appear to be offline.

A web search threw up the following reference.

STEPHENS DYER MAUNDRELL FAMILY, WILTS
Notes and Queries 1938 174: 333

Tim Powys-Lybbe...
The Society of Genealogists has many of these volumes in their Library
in London and the best way of answering your question is to go and have
a look at them.

My impression is that almost all of the contributions were from
scholarly amateurs in a wide variety of subjects. Obviously some of
the contributions were better than others. At the very east they
should have said where they got any information from and that should be
well worth following up.

The Maundrells have been long resident in Wiltshire, mostly farmers of
course and I know one such family that survives. They told me that one
of the early Maundrells was a Protestant saint, being burnt at the stake
in Q. Mary's reign.
