Greetings to you all
Please would some one be kind enough to advise me how to find out if my grandfather was a part of this Army Division as my mum believes. His name was Archibald Lovell and he was born 14/6/1896.

Peter Goodey...
At the time of WW1, was he British or New Zealandish? I think it will make
a difference about what advice might be appropriate.

Don Phillipson...
Before WW2 there was no difference, i.e. Britons and New

Peter Goodey...
So you're saying that there would be no difference in the advice given in
relation to that specific question regardless of whether he was in a
British or New Zealand regiment?

Zealanders (and Australians and Canadians) were all
"British subjects," no more and no less. The various
dominions created national citizenships only in or after 1945.

Charles Ellson...
That's only generally relevant to whether or not a country wishes to
have you living in it or not. Military arrangements are a different
matter with armies (or in some cases even the units within them) being
effectively independent, in part or in whole, even if their country
isn't; an old example being the Indian Army and the British Army in
India which were two different armies operating in the same country.
