Does anyone have an idea what the occupation of Joseph Partridge is in 1891?
Chairmaker??
Peter Goodey...
|
Could be. It would be consistent with the "Cabt" scribbled in later.

|
The "Cabt" suggests cabinet, but it certainly looks as though it is
chairmaker
Eve McLaughlin...
|
Cab(ine)t was the stock classification by the statisticians for any
furniture related trade, even those who petnatly were not as skilled as
cabinet makers (like chair bodgers in the woods in the Chilterns).

Peter Goodey...
|
A cabinet maker makes any sort of wooden furniture.

What's the squiggle in column 16?
Budgie...
|
Thanks to all those who replied - and especially for the pointer to the
Carmarthenshire records.

Frank Erskine...

It looks to me as if the "Language Spoken" in column 17 has been
deleted and perhaps "cwm" popped there in its place.
