Geoff Ellis...
Many thanks all.
Interesting, I had thought before the 1914/18 war.
Shows how much I know :)

I agree - the skirts don't look 1930's - they seem to be fitted and,
given the style of the waist, presumably long. I have photos of my own
family from the pre-War period and the men are wearing hats like those.

Richard van Schaik...
database are dutch, but they are dated to at least certain periods in
the early times of photography. Only a lot of them were made indoors
without hats. Also I did and do not recognize the hats for the males on
the photographs on Geoff's site for The Netherlands. So I had to go on
the hats and gowns of the females and the garment of the males.

found in “The Family Box” we don’t have a clue who they are (yet)

I'd say, early to mid 1930s. But all my photos are US.
Dunno if the styles translated yearbyyear or if we lagged.

This photograph
when I said 1920-ish. As far as I can determine this photograph is taken
in 1917-1918. From left to right Elisabeth (23 Aug 1893), Alberdina (15
Jun 1895, ....., Alida (8 Mar 1890) de Vroom, sisters. Alida de Vroom is
my grandmother.

Mens hats from around 1920-30...

but I'm not convinced the ladies hats are from the 1920s.

Wider brims came back in the 1930s according to...

Perhaps early 1030's overall?
