My wife searched a recently made available list showing ships' passengers on
the Ancestry site and oh boy, was my sister surprised when I sent her a
snipped bit of the, "Manifest of in-bound passengers (aliens)" for her
arrival, as an immigrant, at New York from Liverpool aboard the Ascania in
1953.

The data available covers 1820 to 1957.

Sorry to be behind the times but do I have to subscribe to Ancestry
first to search these lists?

myths...
No money or credit card details needed, but one has to register.

Sorry about that.

No you don't need to be an Ancestry subscriber, but you do have to be
quick. The free offer ends November 30th.

Well that was interesting but has now given me an even bigger mystery.
My Gt Grandad - Sam Burroughs died in Atlantic City in 1919 and I know
was in Boston in 1915, but there seems to be no record of his entry via
the passenger lists for the various POEs

I can only guess he came in via Canada.
