I'm afraid it is! It's all part of the creeping "Europeisation" that is being
forced upon us by the BBBs (Barmy Brussels Bureaucrats). They do not
like national identities and ancient heritages or individualistic thinking -
doesn't suit the great European ideal, you see.

Rubbish Roy, it has nothing to do with the EU. United Kingdom is the correct
term for this nation. Remember the point of adding the national description
is because the letter is being posted in a foriegn country. The local
international sorting office will have a bag labelled United Kingdom, not one
labelled England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, South Yorkshire and

Perhaps I was confusing it with Peasmouldia.

Pimlico.
There is an awful lot of nonsense talked about British postal addresses
because most people appear not to understand one simple fact: The postal
address is for the Royal Mail to define which of their regions and districts
a letter is meant for, it has nothing to do with geographical, political or
historical definitions of any given place.
As for Barmy Brussells Bureaucrats, the barmiest are the British. And
journalists like yourself don't help matters by perpetuating the lies and
distortions they generate.

This could't possibly have anything to do with the fact that we were
lied to by the polititians at the time - and now most British (or
rather English) want desperately to get out of this soviet style
regime...

We wouldn't be the first to get out.

Surely the whole point of a postcode that can just about pinpoint an
address is to do away with the embellishment of county/country and
lessen the risk of errors ? That said, there's nothing stopping you
from taking 5 minutes to address an envelope when you could do it in
half the time !

I thought the EU were trying to split the country up into regions so
would prefer Northern Ireland (or perhaps more likely just Ireland). It
was the EU that came up with the English regions that people like
Anthony BLiar and John Prescott have been trying to force on to England.
"Coincidentally" the Home Office came up with the same regions for
their police mergers.
