The value of money.

One of my ancestors was a labourer in 1841 and a farmer of 18 acres in
1851.. Between these two dates his wife inherited the sum of Ł50. Would that
be enough to explain this change in staus?

did the wife have a widowed mother?

farmer's widows were popular and the tenancy might have passed down in=20
that way

or who was the employer?

Haven't found the wife's mother yet, so not sure what happens up there. The
Ł50 came from her widowed sister, and I'm still trying to unravel that bit.

But hadn't thought of checking the tenancy prior to ancestor. I'll put that
on the to-do list!
