Steve Hayes...
I recently discovered, thanks some census records someone sent me, and the
IGI, that my COTTAM and BAGOT ancestors came from North Lancashire. The Bagots
came from Lancaster, and I found some baptisms for them in the IGI which tied
up with the census records, but no such luck with the COTTAMS.

Richard COTTAM would have been born around 1812 at Heaton with Oxcliffe,
which, from what I can see from the maps, lies between Lancaster and
Morecambe.

But the Parish Locator (Parloc) program comes up with nothing when I search
for Heaton, Oxcliff or even Morecambe.

Is there anyone familiar with the area who could suggest which parish Heaton
with Oxcliff is in, and where he might have been baptised? It probably wasn't

Peter Goodey...
I gather it was in Lancaster at that time.

Perhaps this link will provide some ideas:

St Mary's, Lancaster, if the IGI is anything to go by.

Chris Dickinson...
The last probate transcription on this page:

has, for 1854, "of Heaton with Oxcliffe in the Parish of Lancaster in the
County of Lancaster"
