The survival of coroner's inquest reports is extremely sketchy, since they
are often destroyed after no more than 15 years.

It varies *a lot* from area to area. In the London area, most of them
(and in the City virtually all of them) are available.

You would probably be better off seeking a report in a local Liverpool
newspaper of the time.

But no reason not to ask the local Record Office - and in this case,
your chances of success seem reasonably good. Go to
enter the reference M347 COR/L - there are almost a hundred volumes,
covering from the 1890s to the 1990s.
The Record Office is at Liverpool Central Library, in William Brown
Street.
