I am looking for assistance from anyone with knowledge of Australian BMD to
trace a member
of my wife's family;

William Henry ROBERSON (Not ROBERTSON!!) was born in England in 1896 and
somehow
joined the Australian Army in 1914. Fought in WW1, married an English girl,

How do you know that ?????

1930 was a pretty dire time for any new chum to arrive
here The Recession was particularly severe

nominal roll data bases > embarkation roll
William Hy ROBERSON is recorded as 20 yo joined up 11 Dec
1914 , NofK is his Mum Mrs ROBERSON , 63 Church St
Walthamstowe UK , his occupation was 'seaman' and he
signed up in Adelaide , He embarked 24 Jun 1915 on the
HMAT ' Kanowna'

If you go to the National Archives site

Register as a guest ,type in his name and the 1914 -1918
dates and ref to his war service dossier will come up
You can get this digitised for free or pay a fee and have
it photocopied

which records details of personnel in the AUS forces in
WW2 but hes not there

After that a mystery. We would like to find out whether he had any further
family after he returned
to Oz and whether a suitable candidate died there.

First things first ............... In my 2003 AUS phone
numbers CD there were 180 x ROBERSONs none living in
Tasmania
