Jill...
Could someone confirm what the registration district for a birth in Sonning
Berkshire would be please?
I am thinking its Henley but Genuki does not say

In which county would folks in Sonning be census'd - Berkshire or
Oxfordshire?

If you had choices of indivduals in
1841 Cookham, Bray, Berkshire Abingdon, Abingdon Borough, Berkshire
1851 Henley, Henley Oxfordshire

which of these would you be most confortable with?

A. Gwilliam...
I'm not sure what you're asking here.

But the parish council's website suggests that the parish strays into
Oxfordshire. I'd assume that if that's the case today, it's pretty
likely that it was also true in 1800s.

Jill...
I am chasing Edward Thomas around then
The places given for possible ET's are as above
Unfortunately the 1841 Oxford is not on thegenealogist yet

Jill -

Think in terms of the family history societies :-)

The Oxfordshire FHS has fully transcribed the 1841 census for modern-day
Oxfordshire, with searches available through its Search Services - see
for what parish is on what CD see

You don't give expected age of Edward THOMAS. Here are those in the
transcript:

THOMAS, Edward, 2 , HO107/32/03/ 22, Abingdon 3
THOMAS, Edward, 3 , HO107/874/02/ 29, Caversham
THOMAS, Edward, 7 , HO107/876/11/ 6, Cowley
THOMAS, Edwin, 2 , HO107/874/08/ 10, Shiplake
THOMAS, Edwin, 20 , HO107/32/10/ 12, Abingdon St. Nich. 2

Let me know if you'd like further details of any.

thanks for the ideas

Chad Hanna...
The Oxfordshire part Dunsden and Eye became a separate parish in the mid
19th century and is now part of Shiplake parish I believe.

However, that has nothing to do with birth registration :-) I believe
that Wokingham would be the correct one.
