Whitton b 1820

Margaret had a daughter Eliabeth Ann b July 5 1871 d 19 May 1872.

Dont know if any other siblings. or what Margarets husband was called.

date of birth, surely the father's name is on the birth certificate?

the date was got out of family Bible....no other details are given just that
date.

who died Q2 1872 Auckland RD Vol 10a page 170. Is Auckland
registration district correct? If so, the dates in the Bible are
correct and that says that Margaret wasn't married at that time since
the child has her name.

Staying with Auckland RD, there's a marriage in Q2 1873, Auckland RD,
Vol 10a page 401, for Margaret Whitton. There's no spouse listed for
that time but FreeBMD gives the following result:

There were either 3 couples on the page, which could be a possibility,
or the two Margarets were one and the same. I'd suggest getting the
certificate for Margaret Whitton to see who she married and whether
her surname had been Mordur at some time.

If it isn't, then Elizabeth Ann was illegitimate and Margaret had no
husband at that time.

Do you know if Margaret did marry? Have you had a look on FreeBMD for
any marriages of a Margaret WHITTON between 1871 and 1881? If you
can't find her on the 1881, it suggests that she was married by then
and was enumerated under her husband's name.

I cant seem to find her on the 1881 census.
