Graham...
I am thinking about taking a subscription out for ancestry.co.uk and would
like to hear from others that are using it. Is it worth the money, are there
any recommendations and has any one had problems using the service.

Martin Brown...
If you shop around a bit you can find software that comes with a free
30 day trial of Ancestry. And you don't have to register for a
continuous membership subscription.

You can also join on a pay per view basis. Currently unlimited census
searches for 14 days and 10 image downloads. If you are systematic this
is very good value for money.

If you find a lot of very useful information it may be worth having a
full subsrciption, but I have found that signing up for limited periods
as needed was perfectly adequate. I have another pay per view session
whenever new census data becomes available.

Brian Pears...
Well worth every penny as far as I'm concerned just for easy
access to the censuses.

Graham P Davis...
I just wish they'd improve their software. The search system is sometimes
quite bizarre with results which should appear at the top of the list
hidden umpteen pages down. I also wish more search parameters were held
globally - I get fed up specifying a person's data and location of birth
over and over again. And why does the format for entering data change from
one page to the next - drop-down menus for locations on one page but none
available on the next? Also, the web-pages are badly written and can cause
problems for browsers - their home page has 109 errors.

Peter Goodey...
Can't answer that without knowing what you want from it.

If you want something other than censuses, I doubt if it is worth the
money.

Many thanks...Graham

Ron O'Neill...
Like the previous answer said, if you want access to ALL the census from
1841 - 1901, then only you can decide if it's worth subscribing.

Best wishes
Ron
