Dear Group,
Further to my question about Pubs Index, does anyone, please, have a way of
finding out who was the owner/licensee of a pub calld "The Millstone" in
myths...
|
The local Record Office might have license applications.

Many thanks for that, Cecilia. I think I will try the Cheshire RO
first,(even though I believe Warrington was technically in Lancs. in 1830)
mainly because Richard Corbett has kindly sent me the telephone number for
Cheshire.
Again many thanks,

Sankey Street, Warrington, Lancs. in 1830 - 1840? I have reason to believe
that my gg grandparents, William and Elizabeth FAIR, were there at that
time. In the Pigot's Directory for 1828/9 on "Historical Directories
on-line" the licensee was Joseph Moss, and in the 1841 Census, William and
Elizabeth were round the corner in Golbourne St. and William's occupation
was "waiter". I have the birth certificate for one of their children in
1839 where the address is given just as "Sankey Street" and William's
occupation as "Victualler". The number of the pub in Sankey Street could be
"54".
