John Willumsen...
Can someone please point me in the right direction for records of Danish
Immigrants coming into the UK around the turn of the century, between 1880
and 1910.

I'm trying to trace my Grandfather who I believe was born in Denmark around
1882. I have found his marriage in the UK in 1908, but no trace of him
before this.

Any help and guidance would be appreciated.

Hugh Watkins...
whom did he marry?

Charles Williamson could be an english form of his name

Hugh Watkins...
I do a lot of danish research

please post all you know

Hugh W

David J...
I would start with the 1881 census - free and online at
familysearch.org

Then try the 1891 & 1901 census - subscription and online with
Ancestry.co.uk

or just post the names here, and someone will find them for you....

Hugh Watkins...
-sen names are patronymics and definitely not a single family
have you got any letters from Denamrk / postcarsd ect in your family papers?
'
even a postmark may be a very useful clue to a county or parish

danish phone book 681 listed

names of children may be a clue
no online indexes of such a recent date (1908 ish)

records are plentiful but organised by address if census or parish
the church is the organ of civil registration

then there were ethnic danes in N Germany or Prussia
who tended to get out after 1864

about 2000 danes died in the german army in WW1

images of census and church books before 1892
an exact date of birth + parish will be the open sesame

once you have a location then there are many more possibilities
