How can I show Family Tree

Mick...
I hope you can see what I am trying to think of in this!
I have a desktop computer, with Windows XP Home, and have the Brothers
Keeper 6 Family Tree programme installed, and considerable info added with
pictures of most people.

I would like to be able to show the tree to family members, none of whom
have computers, or can come to me, so I need to take it to them.

I thought about buying a laptop, but thought I would ask if anyone can thing
of a cheaper way than the high cost of them.

Is there any other device or way of being able to do this?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Mick.

Paper is pretty cheap - why not print it?!

Hi Mick,

CWatters...
Well yes but there is a bit more to it than that. Not many DVD players can
play GED files!

However the latest DVD players can display digital photos. So what you could
do is capture some screen shots of your family tree and make a VCD or DVD
slide show that plays on a DVD player. There are plenty of programs around
to make a slide show...

DVD players are quite cheap so you could even buy one to take with you. That
way you can test it all works before you travel.

Anne Logan...
And if you want a great program for capturing screen shots have a look at
the screen - it can capture scrolling windows, save to file or clipboard
etc. I use it often but have no other interest in it.

DVD players can display html?

As someone else said Try printing it out.
A drop down descendants chart would be one way of doing this, however
you will need to glue the pages together, that's along the line and down
the tree to when ever.

Another option is to print out the family group sheets and place these
in plastic sleeves and place these in family order in either a Ring
binder or Ring Binders.
You may need to do up your own index so you know who is where and in
what ring binder, depending on how large the family is.
Admittedly this will cost a bit to do but is cheaper than a lap top,
problem is that it can get rather heavy.
The up side is that your relations may ask for a copy in the format you
show them and you can add notes while in the field so to speak.
Another option is print out your Family Group sheets, number them and
then Scan them as a jpeg file and burn the images to a CD or DVD, as to
why number then this is so you can make up an index with the names of
your family and when you play the CD or DVD you know what page you need
to go to to bring up their part of the family by ensuring that the menu
on the CD or DVD will take you to that family.
Yep a lot of work and not for the faint hearted,if you where planning on
visiting your relations in the next month well you just may have to put
it off until you have this one sorted.

All the best in your endeavours.
