chris_doran...
I came across on Ancestry a census page which purports to be a district
description but is in fact a census page from Shrewsbury. I thought it
would be easy to find where it belongs, but so far I'm defeated. The
page can be seen at:

Peter Goodey...
I guess you've never looked at the census on microfilm?

It's the standard example printed near the front of each enumeration
book. The 'handwriting' is a bit of a giveaway .

Hundreds of genealogy beginners have wound past that page thinking "Ah
ha, all the pages are bound to be as easy to read as that!".

1881 England Census > Surrey > Penge > District 66/View description...

Steven Gibbs...
Is it the entirely fictitious example page for enumerators? I haven't
needed to look at the 1881 on film for so long, I can't remember where
the example page for that particular census was.

I've looked at Shrewsbury St Mary for 1881, but can't see Charlotte St
or Bird Lane in any of the district descriptions and none of the first
pages matches the beautiful handwriting on that sheet.

Searches for some of the people on that page in 1871 to 1891 fail.

Anyone else like to try to find its rightful home?
