Alan Archer...
In tracing my grandfather Frank Percy TATE, I discovered him, in the 1901
census, living with an aunt & uncle, in Guarlford, Worcestershire.
Their names are John TUMMEY, aged 47 born in Worcester;
and Mary Ann TUMMEY, aged 49 born in W??? (illegible), Kent.
they have a son, George Arthur TUMMEY, aged 11, born in Malvern (nearby, in
Worcestershire)

CWatters...
This one might be worth a closer look. Perhaps they named George Arthur
TUMMEY after an uncle...

I have found them in the 1891 census, aged respectively 36, 39, and 1, and
Mary Ann's place of birth could be Wereham, Kent.

If Frank Percy TATE is really a nepher in 1901, then either John TUMMEY is
the brother of Frank's Mother, or Mary Ann is the sister of Frank's Father.

Can anyone help decide which?

CWatters...
Trace Frank back a bit further first. Order his birth certificate and then
try to find his parents in say 1881..

Alan Archer...
many thanks - had already got that and names of parents and grandparents and
siblings; but there is no Mary Ann Tate to be found; nor is the mothers
surname Tummey - any other ideas?

CWatters...
What was Franks parents names?

CWatters...
Perhaps his mother was married twice?

Only other thing I saw was poss brother to John Tummey..

(of slight interest is a faimily connection with Fred and Maurice TATE, both
of who played cricket for England!)
