I just wondered if there was an age limit to witnessing a marriage in 1891.
Just received a marriage cert where one of the witnesses was 12 or 13 years

I believe it is/was 7 but I sit to be corrected on that. The main
criteria was that the witness was old enough to understand what was
going on; so a 12/13 year old would have been acceptable if s/he knew
the significance of what s/he was witnessing.

This comes up very frequently. Yes, 11-12 is possible - the witness only
had to know what was going on.
