Budgie...
This extract from the Bridgwater 1861 census (RG9/1624 F128 P14) shows
Louisa Wornell, aged 4. On her son's birth certificate, the surname looks
more like Warnell, but we won't quibble! She married in Q4 1885 indexed as
Wornall.

Can anyone decipher her mother's name or where she comes from? It's possibly
Theresa Laura Wornell.

I think her older sister is Alice Lavinia Wornell, born Q2 1855 Marylebone,
who died Q2 1871 Bridgwater, but I can't find a birth reference for Louisa.

Budgie...
Apologies - the mother seems to be Thirza Lavinia Banfield, who married
George Henry Wornell in 1854.

The nearest I can find for the Wornell family in 1871 is RG10/177 F29 P47. -
any advance on that?

Theresa Laura Wornell head widow 32 dress maker Somerset Bowis/Bowes

Daniel Morgan...
I agree except for the place, which I read as Bower. Compare the r in

Charani...
If it's Bower, then it could mean Bower Hinton.

Anne Chambers...
as I said - and there is also Bower Ashton

"dress maker" and repeatedly in "B Water", as opposed to the s with no
trailing tail in "seamstress" and "Leeds" near the top of the page. And
I think the dot is an accident, not the top of an i. It's too far to
the right, and other i's on the page have their dots quite well
aligned.

Anne Chambers...
Agreed - so it's either Bower Hinton or Bower Ashton.

Jenny M Benson...
Or East Bower.

Alice looks like Alice Laura, not Alice Lavinia

Daniel Morgan...
I agree 100%, although of course this could be a mistake by the
enumerator, if you have Lavinia from elsewhere.

Enlarged to 200%, the second name seems to be the same in both cases;
neither has enough characters for 'Lavinia'.

According to the Somerset Gazetteer, there doesn't seem to be either a
Bowes or a Bowis in Somerset :(, although there is a Bower Ashton & a
Bower Hinton.
